Evaluation Question 6

The 7 images that I have included on this blog post show all of the physical and digital equipment that I have made use out throughout the production of my magazine.  While all of these pieces of equipment were used at separate times they came together to help create the product. All of these pieces of technology effected my product greatly. Had technology not been so advanced I would have met many problems while producing this magazine.  The technology helped me in the following ways...
·         Taking good quality photos. The camera that I used allowed me to have a good quality image for my magazine which made the product look more professional and appeal more to the audience.
·         Contact models etc. I used facebook to contact the modes that I used in my magazine. This allowed us to have a group conversation regarding outfits and makeup for the photo shoot and made it a lot easier and quicker than having to talk to each model individually.
·         To create the product. I used Photoshop on a mac computer to physically construct my media product. This programme has many different tools that allowed me to create a professional looking product that would appeal to my target audience. This programme also made the process of creating the magazine quick and simple as everything we needed was on one programme.
·         To broadcast my project. Blogger was a great help throughout the making of my product. It helped me to bring together all of my ideas throughout the research and planning stages and was simple to understand which sped the process up massively.
Without the use of technology throughout the making of this product I would not have been able to produce a magazine to the standard that I have done. The process would have took longer and the outcome would not have been as successful. Technology allowed us to showcase our ideas in many different ways which makes the media product more appealing.

Technology used...

Double Page Spread Draft

This is the first draft of my double page spread article. It was marked by my media teacher and I am going to use the improvements that she suggested and do another draft of the article before I use it on my final product.

Contents Page Title Fonts

These are the potential fonts that I have selected for the title of my contents page. I wanted to change the font from the one used on the front cover as I didn't want the font to be entirely the same all the way through. I will still be using the font from the contents page later on in my magazine though to ensure continuity. Below I have included images of the fonts and reasons why I have or  have not selected them.
I decided not to choose 'Sweetie Pie' because I thought that the font looked too handwritten and not professional enough. I also thought that the hearts didn't look very professional and although they would appeal to my target audience I don't think that it would fit with my target audience.
I decided not to choose 'sign handwriting' because I wanted the font to be clear and easy to read and I thought that this hand writing was not. I like the relaxed style that the font has but I don't think that it is appropriate for my magazine.

'Live, Laugh, Love' is the magazine font that I have chosen for the title of my contents page. I like the style of the font and still think that it is easy to read and understand even at a quick glance. The hearts will not feature on the contents page.
I decided not to choose 'DS Macuzione' as the font for the title of my magazine as I thought that it was slightly too thick as I was trying to differentiate the font. I do however still like this font I just don't think that it is suitable for my contents page.
I decided not to choose 'Too Tight' because I think as a font it is more suited to a magazine that belongs to the 'indie' genre. I do like this font but don't think that it fits with the genre of my magazine.

Potential Problems with My Coursework

Potential area where there might be a problem
How I will deal with this problem
Front Cover Images
1.      Not bright enough
2.      Too blurry
3.      No eye line match
4.      Not the right shape
5.      Not a medium shot
6.      Not enough images
Front Cover Images
1.      Ensure there is both natural and artificial lighting present at the photo shoot.
2.      Use a professional, high quality camera.
3.      Brief my model to ensure they know that eye-line with the camera is essential.
4.      Take images from a variety of angles and lengths to ensure the right shape for my front cover. Also have a second plan for my front cover.
5.      Again, take images from a variety of angles and lengths to ensure the right shot length for my front cover.
6.      Take multiple images in the same pose and then have a variety of poses for the models to ensure I have enough images.
Article Inside Magazine
1.      Too much text
2.      Not enough inspiration for the article
3.      Too many questions
4.      Not journalistic enough
5.      Doesn’t appeal to the target audience
6.      Too ‘grown up’ for the target audience
Article Inside Magazine
1.      Re-draft the article multiple times to ensure that there is not too much text.
2.      Read teen pop articles from a variety of magazines.
3.      Redraft the article multiple times and cut out and add in different questions.
4.      Read magazine articles from magazines other than teen pop so I can view the journalistic style.
5.      Read teen pop articles ask members of my target audience to check that the subject matter does appeal to the target audience.
6.      Re-draft the article multiple times and check it against other teen pop articles.
Images to Accompany Article
1.      Not related to the subject of the article
2.      Not enough images
3.      Blurry images
Images to Accompany Article
1.      Take pictures in different poses to ensure that there is definitely a picture that relates to the subject matter of the article and plan the article subject matter before the photoshoot.
2.      Take multiple images of the models in multiple poses to ensure I have enough images.
3.      Use a high quality professional camera.

This table includes all of the potential problems that I could experience while producing my coursework and how I will solve or prevent these problems. This has helped me as I can see the problems that could happen and plan for if they do. Being organised will save me a lot of time while producing the product and help me to  focus of producing a professional looking teen pop magazine.

Eminem/Madonna Article

This is an article posted on the BBC News Website about a debate between high profile celebrities and charities relating to numerous Grammy nominations for Eminem. Below is the article that I read and I have highlighted the key points in the article.

These are the questions that I answered prior to reading the article.

Here is my written response to the questions about the article.

Looking at this article has helped to give me inspiration for my own double page spread article and has opened my eyes to the fact the article doesn't have to be an interview with a pop group like I was planning on. I think that this article is for a older target audience than that of my own magazine however it was useful to look at this article as I experienced a different style of writing than that of teen pop magazines.
